Oil is on the decline. At the time of writing, WTI crude oil was trading at $88.9 per barrel. This is a significant drop compared to last week. Recall that the price previously reached $93.4 per barrel. Now we can expect a pullback. The reason for this is the de-escalation of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Recently, the president of Russia met with the president of France and stated that he does not plan to invade Ukrainian territory. This is precisely why the price of oil is falling. Additionally, the deal between the US and Iran has a strong effect – the nuclear deal that will allow Iran to enter international oil exports. Thanks to this, Iran will be able to sell its oil, which in turn will also lower the asset’s price.
Prices for natural gas have also decreased, making it an even less attractive asset. Japan has decided to send some of its liquefied natural gas to Europe. Azerbaijan is considering the same decision. At the same time, large gas fields have been discovered in Bolivia and Abu Dhabi. Because of these and many other news, the heat is dissipating – new supply meets demand, and prices for the asset consequently decrease.
